Joshua Ashbaugh

JoshDisciple

Josh is the founder, legal owner, and day-to-day organizational lead behind Element Esports—the person responsible for turning its shared ideas into a brand, an operating structure, and a long-term competitive home.

Joshua “Josh” Ashbaugh, known online as JoshDisciple, co-founded Element Esports with Shawn “Jay” Jadron and has served as the organization’s primary builder from the beginning. He leads its overall direction while remaining closely involved in the practical work required to move the organization forward.

Building Element Esports

Josh provides the organization’s administrative and operational backbone. His responsibilities span long-term planning, financial support, account ownership, brand development, partnerships, website and platform management, competitive direction, and the systems that connect each part of Element Esports.

He is most often the person moving work from concept to completion—researching the options, building the structure, coordinating the details, and making sure a good idea becomes something the organization can actually use. That hands-on role has shaped Element Esports into more than a tag or a roster: it is being built as a durable organization with room to grow responsibly.

Leadership in practice

Major organizational decisions are collaborative. Josh works with Jay to challenge assumptions, compare ideas, and reach agreement before making choices that materially affect the organization. At the same time, Josh handles many of the smaller day-to-day decisions independently so projects do not stall and the organization continues moving.

His leadership style favors clear expectations, practical systems, direct communication, and titles that reflect real responsibility. He wants people to understand where they fit, who supports them, and how their work contributes to the larger mission without adding layers of hierarchy before the organization is ready for them.

Competitive roots

Josh entered competitive gaming through Call of Duty, playing the anchor and support roles that were central to structured team play at the time. Rather than building his game around being the loudest slayer on the map, he focused on positioning, communication, controlling important areas, and doing the less-visible work that gave teammates room to succeed.

He later competed alongside Jay in Apex Legends, including the ALGS Challenger Circuit and a range of online tournaments. Apex demanded a different kind of coordination—rapid decisions, constant information sharing, adaptation under pressure, and trust between teammates—but reinforced many of the same team-first habits that shaped his earlier competitive experience.

Experience before Element

Before creating Element Esports together, Josh and Jay both spent time in staff and leadership roles across several esports organizations and gaming communities. Moving between those environments gave them firsthand experience with the difference between an organization that merely looks active and one that communicates clearly, supports its people, and follows through on its commitments.

Those earlier chapters helped shape what they wanted Element Esports to become. The organization reflects lessons learned as players, staff members, community leaders, and decision-makers—including the importance of realistic growth, defined responsibility, honest communication, and leadership that remains involved after the announcement is posted.

Military service

Josh served for six years in the United States Marine Corps Reserve as a field radio operator. His work included supporting command and fire-direction communications, maintaining accountability for communications equipment, assisting with training, and operating in environments where information had to move clearly and reliably.

That experience continues to influence how he approaches leadership: prepare before the pressure arrives, communicate in a way people can act on, protect accountability, and make sure the team has the structure and tools needed to complete the mission.

Public safety

Outside esports, Josh works in corrections and public safety. The job demands situational awareness, professional communication, accurate documentation, consistency, and the ability to remain composed when a routine moment changes quickly.

Working in that environment has strengthened his belief that standards matter most when they are applied fairly and consistently. It also reinforces the human side of leadership: reading the room, understanding how different people respond to pressure, and addressing problems before they become larger than they need to be.

Operations and logistics

Before entering public safety, Josh spent six years working in shipping and logistics within a large manufacturing environment. The role required accuracy, equipment operation, coordination across teams, and dependable execution in a workflow where delays or mistakes affected everyone downstream.

That operations background carries directly into Element Esports. Josh naturally thinks about handoffs, ownership, deadlines, documentation, and the systems behind the visible result. Whether the project is a partnership, apparel launch, application process, website, or internal structure, he focuses on making it repeatable instead of relying on memory or improvisation alone.

Design and digital systems

Josh has a longstanding background and academic interest in graphic and interactive design, alongside his continuing study of criminal justice. He applies that mix of visual thinking and structured analysis to Element Esports through branding, web experiences, staff tools, media resources, apparel direction, and the systems used to communicate the organization publicly.

He is not interested in separating the brand from the operation behind it. To Josh, a strong identity should be supported by clear navigation, useful processes, consistent standards, and tools that make it easier for staff, players, creators, partners, and community members to participate.

The ElementAdvantage

For Josh, the the Element standard is both a brand idea and a leadership principle. It reflects the belief that intensity, curiosity, rapid pattern recognition, adaptability, and unconventional thinking can become genuine strengths when they are supported by communication and structure.

His long-term goal is to make Element Esports a place where competitive ambition and human standards reinforce each other—a community where different minds are taken seriously, people can grow into meaningful roles, and success is measured by what the organization builds together as much as any single result.
